Organum Histriae
Closing Concert of the 26th International Organ Festival Organum Histriae
Performance by the Swiss musical duo: celebrated soprano Sidonie Gudrun Otto and one of the greats of the European organ scene, Andreas Liebig. These exceptional musicians will present carefully selected gems of European musical heritage, predominantly from the Baroque period — perfectly suited to the organ of St. Euphemia.
The Organum Histriae Festival is renowned for its appreciation of Istria’s remarkable organ heritage, its authentic performances of music on historical instruments, and its blend of tradition with contemporary expression. This year, we are especially celebrating this priceless treasure due to the long-awaited and monumental return of an organ that, for decades, was believed lost to silence.
After a demanding and extensive restoration by organ builder and restorer Francesco Zanin, we can once again witness the majestic sound of the largest organ in the Venetian tradition ever built in this region — the twelve-stop organ crafted by Antonio Barbini in 1754, made for the Church of St. Euphemia in Rovinj.
The organizers warmly invite all lovers of classical and contemporary music, history, and architecture to be part of this unique musical journey. A special invitation is also extended to children and young people to discover the organ and explore the wide range of possibilities offered by the queen of instruments.
